This course will prepare students to engage in natural and unprepared discourse. Students will review strategies for communicating with others in English and use these strategies to converse in topics of interests with the teacher and other students in the class. There will also be an opportunity to explore themes related to exploring abroad and communicating in different forms, such as digital and social media.

Standard Student English dictionary

Students will do pair work and individual assignments. Group activities will involve presenting on various topics related to each unit.

Speaking Tests are done in pairs. Students must maintain a conversation at a determined length.  Test results are evaluated on six measures 1) pronunciation; 2) vocabulary range; 3) grammar accuracy; 4) fluency; 5) interaction; 6) communication strategy

Participation - 35%; Written Quizzes/homework 25%; Speaking Tests 40%
