Purpose
This course will review the language, presentation, and design concepts introduced in Quarter 1 and Quarter 2. The course will strongly emphasize individual student development of their language and presentation skills. It will promote critical thinking and discussion of a variety of design concepts and techniques including persuasion techniques and language.. Students will have greater in-class opportunities to practice and refine their English skills than in Q1 and Q2. The final examination will allow students the opportunity to present a work of their own. This course is required for all first year students.

Contents
Review: Review of PowerPoint presentations. Explanation of mid-term assignment. Organizing Groups and generating ideas for content.
Form and Theory 1: Analysis and Discussion of PowerPoint presentations. Principles of persuasion.
Language Learning 1: Using persuasive language.
Language Learning 2: Using persuasive language.
Language Practice 1: Developing your presentations.
Language Practice 2: Developing your presentations.
Language Practice 3: Refining your presentations.
Group Presentations (Mid-term Presentation).
Review: Review of the course. Explanation of final assignment. Generating content ideas.
Form and Theory 1: Review and adaptation of design principles learned in the course.
Form and Theory 2: Discussion: Best Approaches to presenting your work. Developing your presentations.
Language Learning 1: Review of language learned in the course. Developing your presentations.
Language Practice 1: Developing your presentations.
Language Practice 2: Refining your presentations.
Presentations (Final Presentation - day 1).

Task
Students will be required to give a 6 minute PowerPoint presentation on a topic (mid-term) and an 8-minute PowerPoint presentation on a work of their own (final).
Grade Policy
Students will be graded on participation (30%) a mid-term presentation (35%), and final presentation (35%).
