Students will be able to learn about all the basics of film planning and producing, from first “pitching an idea”, to writing a treatment, to pre-production planning and production. All during this time, students will be building the English skills necessary to understand and utilize basic concepts of filmmaking.映画特有言語の探索：　映画とは視覚的媒体、つまり映像を通じてストーリが語られる。このコースではどのように映像が言語化し、どのように映画監督の考えを伝えるために英語が活用されるのか楽しみながら理解を深める。ここ数十年の間、映画の進歩は目紛るしい。結果、映画制作に使用される言語（英語）も増大している。映画監督が映画にどのようなイメージやメッセージを込めているのかをデザイナー、撮影監督、俳優などに正確に伝えるためにも、映画専門用語（英語）を正しく理解する必要がある。授業では学生がまず始めに映画専門用語を学び、ハリウッドの映画産業で現在活躍する人々のように映画専門用語を駆使できるよう指導する。　学生は様々な楽しい演習を通じて映画に関する知識や興味を共有し、英語を学ぶ。　　　　　　　　　　　　　学生は授業で多くの映画の一部を見ながら、映画監督がどのようにイメージやメッセージを伝えるのか学ぶ。

THE LANGUAGE AND BUSINESS OF FILMThis course explores the world of the filmmaker as “auteur” (author) of a cinematic work and the tools which he uses. This course also focuses on the terms and language used in the English speaking film world and how film is used as a language for communicating messages by the director.このコースは映画監督、プロデューサー、脚本家の役割、及び、映画制作過程を重点的に学ぶ。映画の歴史（スタイル、時代等）を学び、どのように現在の映画に反映されているのかを学ぶ。試作および制作計画：　学生は絵コンテや制作など計画過程を調べる。（グループワークを通じて生徒がそれぞれの役割をこなす。）グループ毎に1-2ページの原稿を基に撮影を予定している。その際、同じ内容の原稿をグループそれぞれが独自の企画、撮影、編集をする。基本カメラ技法、照明、音響技術指示。撮影監督の役割を学ぶ。短い脚本技術を研究する。アイデア出しの後シンプルな短い原稿を書く。これらの原稿はカメラ、照明、音響技術を学ぶための演習にも代用され る。　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　将来、授業外で（映画）プロジェクトを展開することを希望する学生は、その準備を始めることも可能である。その際、前期末までにそのプロジェ クトのアイディア及び計画を報告すること。

Students should always bring an English dictionary or electronic dictionary to class and prepare to keep a list of new words learned. Students must always bring handouts and materials distributed in class to the class each lesson.

Students learn industry terms while developing their own story idea from developing a premise for a story to writing a proper, industry standard like outline and recording a story pitch of the story. Students will also learn how to look at and analyze the director's work and creative choices in a film scene.

Final exam will be a written exam on the 14th.Film Screening of each group's short film project will be on the 16th lesson. If a student is unable to complete a short film project, the student must tell the teacher 2 weeks before Final Presentation, where another final project assignment can be arranged.Final projects will be presented on the 16th lesson of the term.
