To learn basic design principles such as use of contrast, white space, movement, use of images and color etc. for layout; and lettering issues, such as font use, letter spacing and line spacing, etc. for text layout and logo design in English. Though this is not a technical class, students will learn or improve in English in their use of digital tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. through hands-on experience in practical tasks like designing a logo, a business card, etc. コントラストや余白、動き、画像、配置用の色などのデザインの基本原理、およびフォントやテキスト配置用の文字／行間隔、ロゴデザインなどのレタリングについて英語で学ぶ。本科目は技術を学ぶコースではないが、学生はロゴや名刺をデザインするといった実践的な演習を通じて、フォトショップやイラストレーターなどのデジタルツールの使い方を英語で身につける。

A short exam testing 1) knowledge of definition etc. of some concepts learned in class such as contrast, motion, white space, etc. 2) ability to critique a design or rationalize a design. 次の点に問うミニテストを授業内に行う： 1) コントラストや動き、余白などの授業で学んだ概念の定義などの知識、2) デザインを批評または論理的に説明する能力
