First we learn basic layout principles such as use of contrast, white space, motion, color　use, etc.　in easy English. Next we learn basic lettering concepts such as font use, letter spacing and line spacing, as well as logo design. Though this is not a technical class, students will use tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. in practical works. We will start with designing simple name lists to more complex projects such as business cards, CD covers, etc. まず学生は、コントラスト、ホワイト・スペース（空白）、モーション、イメージの使用、配置用色などの基本的なページ・レイアウト原則を簡単な英語で学ぶ。つぎ、教員はフォントの使用、文字間隔や行間隔やロゴのデザインなどのレタリングについて紹介します。Photoshop、Illustratorなどのツールを使いこなしながら、簡単なリスト（名簿）からＣＤのカバーやフル・ページなどの作成を実践する。授業はできるだけ多く英語を使って行う。

A short test about 1) basic design rules like contrast , motion, white space, etc. 2) they will write their comments on a given design. 小テストは、1）クラスで学んだデザインの原則（コントラスト、モーション、ホワイト・スペース（空白）等）の定義などの知識、2）デザインの批評や合理化の能力を試します。
