Purpose

The class will be done by creating an online homepage and communicating with the teacher and other students through it. Each class will focus on one area of social media that the student will learn.

Target

The class will teach many of the areas used in social media. By the end the students will have a full online portfolio of different social media encounters to show their English ability. Stuends will learn, research and interact with various types of media, showing their ability to create, communicate and comprehend English in an online space.

Contents

  • Introduction: Course overview. Explanation of final assignment. Introduction to speech-making. Getting to know your fellow students.

  • Creation of a Google Sites page. Confiming the page works and is running.

  • Implementing a style, design and layout of the student's personal site.

  • Creation of a written blog post based on a current events topic. #1

  • Creation of a post using external Social Media links based on current events. #1

  • Creation of a post using external video sources. #1

  • Creation of a post using file attachments.

  • Creation of a written blog post based on a current events topic. #2

  • Creation of a post using external Social Media links based on current events. #2

  • Creation of a post using external video sources. #2

  • Creation of a post using resume and job profile information (part 1)

  • Creation of a post using resume and job profile information (part 2)

  • Creation of a post using external Social Media links based on current events. #3

  • Creation of a video for use on your personal site. (part 1)

  • Creation of a video for use on your personal site. (part 2) Publication of video.

  • Final Presentation of complete portfolio

Task

Students will be required to give a  presetation  of their portfolio, demonstrating the work that was done.

Grade Policy

Students will be graded on participation (40%) and a portfolio (60%).

Message

Students do not have to submit any personal material, nor use personal accounts (youtube, etc.) though they may do so if they wish.
